Louis Roederer Collection 244 Champagne 1.5L

The Collection 244 cuvée has been created from Réserve perpétuelle and Réserve sous-bois-aged wines, supplemented mainly by the 2019 harvest.

The wines used to make this cuvée are both dense and fresh, with masterful balance, quick to reveal in the blend all the powerful, gourmand character of Collection.

Matured for nearly 4 years in the Roederer cellars, Collection 244 is a cuvée of great fullness, carried by the ripeness of the year, the freshness of Réserve Perpétuelle and the complexity of wines from Réserve matured under wood.

The contribution of Meunier in greater proportions than Cuvée 243 brings a caressing, fruity sweetness to the more structured, saline Pinots Noirs and Chardonnays.

The first nose reveals a full, deep bouquet of ripe fruit such as vine peach and William pear combined with citrus.

Then iodized, smoky notes, linked to autolysis and sous-bois aging, add aromatic freshness. Then come notes of chalk and slight reduction, revealing a concentrated, powerful wine.

The palate reveals a powerful, greedy, juicy texture, as if biting into a ripe fruit. A lovely length lingers on the palate thanks to the chalky freshness provided by the Chardonnay. The salivating finish is accompanied by smoky notes.
